About

Standing with our Armed Forces community.

Labour Friends of the Forces is a network of Labour Party members, serving personnel, veterans, and military families working together to strengthen the relationship between the Labour movement and the Armed Forces community across the UK.

We believe that those who serve our country, and the families who support them, deserve fairness, dignity, opportunity, and respect.

We campaign for better support for the Armed Forces community, including improved housing, healthcare, employment opportunities, and stronger pathways for veterans transitioning into civilian life.

We also work to promote public understanding of the Armed Forces and strengthen connections between military communities and wider society.

Our Objectives

Building stronger support for the Armed Forces community

To work within the Labour movement to develop, influence, and promote progressive policies that support the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, and military families across the UK.
To champion fairness, dignity, and opportunity for service personnel and veterans, ensuring those who serve or have served our country are treated with respect and equity.
To position Labour at the forefront of delivering support for veterans and military families, ensuring access to quality housing, employment opportunities, healthcare, and effective transition pathways into civilian life.
To empower Labour Party members to campaign on Armed Forces and veterans’ issues, raising awareness and driving change in communities nationwide.

Our Mission Statement

Labour Friends of the Forces exists to strengthen the relationship between the Labour Party and the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, and military families across the UK.

Our mission is to support and amplify the voices of service personnel, veterans, and Armed Forces families within the Labour movement, ensuring their experiences, perspectives, and challenges are clearly heard, understood, and represented in policy and public debate.

We stand firmly with our Armed Forces personnel and veterans, recognising their service and the vital contribution they make to our national security, our communities, and our society.

We promote Labour values of fairness, dignity, and opportunity, working to build stronger, more meaningful connections between the Labour Party and the Armed Forces community.

We are committed to advancing progressive defence and veterans’ policies, strengthening support for military families, and fostering closer relationships between the Armed Forces and the wider communities they serve.

Founding Statement

Labour Friends of the Forces was founded to strengthen the relationship between the Labour Party and the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans, and military families across the UK.

The organisation was established by Labour Party members, veterans, serving personnel, and supporters who recognised the importance of ensuring that the voices, experiences, and perspectives of those who serve are fully represented within the Labour movement and reflected in UK defence and veterans’ policy.

Labour Friends of the Forces was created to provide a dedicated forum for discussion, engagement, and policy development on Armed Forces community issues, while promoting core Labour values of fairness, public service, and opportunity for all.

Through this work, we aim to build greater understanding between the Labour Party and the Armed Forces community, ensuring that service personnel, veterans, and military families are recognised, supported, and empowered to help shape the policies that affect their lives.
